The SAO Jurisprudence Exam

The Jurisprudence Exam is a closed book exam consisting of True or False and Multiple-Choice questions. Applicants have one hour to complete the exam. The passing grade is 75%.

The Jurisprudence exam is made up of questions, confirming knowledge of the following:

Applicants should start their applications in the portal before requesting a jurisprudence exam sitting and must pay the fee of $500 before writing the exam. The fee can be paid by cheque, credit card or e-transfer to admin@saosk.ca.

Jurisprudence exams are proctored by the Executive Director at the SAO office. Exams can be scheduled most weekdays during business hours. To schedule an exam please email admin@saosk.ca or call 306-652-2069.

SAO Orientation Details

All new SAO members are required to attend an orientation session. The orientation session provides important information on practicing optometry in Saskatchewan and the role of the SAO. The SAO offers virtual Orientation sessions as needed. Once you have began your application process we will add you to the contact list for future Orientation dates.

SAO Student Membership Application

If you are currently an optometric student, you can apply for a student membership online. Student membership entitles you to receive our monthly newsletter, Eye on SAO, and access to the Member Portal portion of our website.
