Please find here the 2025 Notice of AGM for the SAO’s 116^th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 24th. The AGM will take place in-person during our 2025 conference at TCU Place in Saskatoon. 

In addition, the SAO is seeking nominations for four (4) Members of Council:

• Four (4) members for two (2) year terms

Nominations received 24 hours prior to the AGM shall be added to the ballot. All nominations received less than 24 hours prior to the AGM shall be considered nominations from the floor. Nominations shall be sent to admin@saosk.ca

Please note in 2023 when The Optometry Act, 1985 was revised the procedures for the election of directors was repealed to allow regulatory bodies to establish their own selection criteria in their administrative bylaws. The SAO Council has established SAO Administrative Bylaws. The new administrative bylaws outline the procedures related to council selection. A few of the changes include:

·         Director terms of office are two years, previously three.

·         Vacancies during a term can be filled by council until the term ends.

·         New eligibility criteria have been added.

·         The President will no longer be elected separately but elected from amongst council as is currently done for Vice President and Registrar.
